Professional Media Hard Drive and Memory Card Recommendations
The following hard drives and memory cards are recommended items to complete coursework within Professional Media Coursework and UCentral Student Media.
Hard Drive Recommendations – Minimum External Hard Drive Recommendations are a solid state drive (SSD) designed for media creation and editing of at least 1TB. A standard Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is not recommended due to limitations in transfer speed and risk of drive failure due to multiple moving parts. If you plan on editing longer form media such as a documentary or film, a larger hard drive size may be beneficial. External Portable SSD’s can be purchased from online retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H.

Memory Card Recommendations – The various cameras used within Professional Media require specific memory cards designed for capturing video at high frame rates and resolution. If you are taking multiple classes, it is recommended to purchase multiple cards for ease of data and project management.
If you are in upper division courses that use the BlackMagic Cinema Cameras, a CFAST2.0 512GB or larger memory card is recommended. You can also use a Samsung T7 or T5 SSD Hard Drive attached to the camera in lieu of a CFAST 2.0 card.
