Mass Communication Student Recognition Ceremony on Friday, April 30, 2021.
DEADLINE for entry is Friday, April 9, 2021 at 4:00 pm.
ONLY ONE STUDENT ENTRY PER CATEGORY.
ATTENTION: In addition to entry information, the electronic form will require a website or YOUTUBE link in which to view the entry.
ENTRY CATEGORIES
FEATURE/STORYTELLING Entertainment / Talk Podcast Video or audio program presented for an online publication by an individual or group characterized by excellence in the presentation of entertaining news, sports, comedy, music, or politics |
FEATURE/STORYTELLING Video Documentary For an in-depth video examination of issues of local, national or international importance or of contemporary, cultural or historic events by an individual or group. |
FEATURE/STORYTELLING Creative Video A distinguished video program or video example by an individual showcasing creative visual techniques in presenting a feature topic. |
PRINT NEWS News Writing An example of a single story by an individual covering a news event or topic that is not breaking news or investigative in nature. Created for online and/or print medium. |
PRINT NEWS Feature Writing For a distinguished example of newspaper feature writing by an individual giving prime consideration to high literary quality and originality. Created for online and/or print medium. |
PRINT NEWS Editorial / Opinion For distinguished editorial writing of an individual with clarity of style, moral purpose, sound reasoning, and power to influence public opinion in what the writer perceives to be the right direction. Created for online and/or print medium. |
VIDEO NEWS Hard News A video example of a single video news report by an individual covering a hard news event or topic that is not breaking news or investigative in nature. Created for online and/or television medium. |
VIDEO NEWS Feature Reporting For a distinguished example of video news feature by an individual covering a human-interest or profile subject. Does not include breaking news or investigative reporting. Created for online and/or television medium. |
VIDEO NEWS Producing A video example (with accompanying rundown and script) from an individual creating, producing, and executing a produced newscast with appropriate lead story and overall content representing the news interest of the day. Created for online and/or television medium. |
RADIO News Presentation Demonstrates content execution production skills including: appropriate lead story, content selection, writing skills, pace, and delivery presentation. |
RADIO Promo / Spot / PSA An example in audio excellence by an individual showcasing creative production techniques that promote, market or sell an idea, concept or program to a targeted audience. |
RADIO Air Check For a distinguished example of an individual that displays creativity, preparation and mastery of show, during an on-air radio presentation. |
SPORTS Writing A distinguished example of a single story written by an individual covering a sports event or topic for print and/or online mediums. |
SPORTS Video Feature For a distinguished example of video feature by an individual covering a human-interest or profile subject relating to sports for television and/or online mediums. Anchored sports segments within programs, stand-alone sports programs, play-by-play, and editorials are not eligible.. |
NEWS Investigative / Data Analysis An example of a single or series of investigative reports, in either a print, video or audio medium, by an individual. Entry must be an original journalistic piece covering an important issue; demonstrate extensive research of documents and records; and be impartial in nature while clarifying the topic. |
NEW MEDIA – Innovation
An example of a new media innovation disseminated on a non-traditional media platform (Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, UCentral website). Winning entries will be creative and original, and should also demonstrate high journalistic standards, including content choices and writing quality. |
