Vitamin String Quartet Concert Recap at the Tower Theatre
The Vitamin String Quartet delivered an energetic at the Tower Theatre, marking the final night of a five week tour with this particular group of musicians. While the tour itself will continue with different performers, this concert was the last show together for violinists Rachel Grace and Wynton Grant, violist Thomas Lea, and cellist Derek Stein.

From the beginning of the concert, the musicians made it clear that the audience should not expect a traditional classical performance. Instead, they encouraged the crowd to interact with them and promised to return the same energy they received. This created a relaxed and fun environment that felt more like a shared experience than a formal concert. The performers joked with each other, told stories from the road, and frequently spoke to the audience between songs, which made the night feel personal and engaging.
It was impressive to see the group’s ability to transform songs into beautiful instrumental pieces. Even without lyrics, the audience could easily recognize each song from the melodies played on violin, viola, and cello. Hearing these songs performed with classical instruments added to the music and showed how versatile string instruments can be.
During the concert, the quartet performed music by Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Michael Jackson, Ariana Grande, Chappell Roan and more. They also performed music featured in the Netflix series Bridgerton as well as music from K-Pop Demon Hunters.
Wynton Grant reflected on the group’s previous performance at Tower Theatre in October 2024.
“I remember the last time we came here it rained like crazy all day. There are so many people here tonight. I think there’s even more people this time, which is awesome,” said Grant.
The personalities of the musicians also made the concert memorable. Rachel Grace shared a story about getting a tattoo during the first week of the tour. She explained that the tattoo was an Xbox controller with the words “Hell yeah” above it because she considers herself a gamer and joked that she might be more of a gamer than a violinist.
“I only play the violin so my fingers stay flexible for my games,” said Grace.
Grace also got personal with the audience and shared a message about social media.
“Be careful with social media, I know it’s really fun and you can get a lot of ideas, but you start comparing yourself to others and it’s really dangerous because you are beautiful, you are worth it, and you have everything you need to do what you want to do,” said Grace.
