UCO Men’s Basketball vs. Newman Jetts
Hamilton Field House, Central Oklahoma, used a decisive second-half rally to pull away from Newman, 74-57, in Wednesday’s Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) matchup.
The win improves UCO to 13-10 on the season and 6-5 in conference play.
The Bronchos return to the court Saturday at 3:30 p.m. to host the Emporia State Hornets.
Trailing 44-42 early in the second half, UCO sparked an 8-0 run, with Brady Hancuff and Parker Hannah keying the surge. The stretch left Newman scoreless for 3:21 and 0-for-4 from the floor with three turnovers.
An 11-4 stretch soon after pushed the lead to double digits, highlighted by back-to-back 3s from Josh Nwankwo.
UCO finished the night shooting 50.8 percent (31-of-61), 8-for-17 from long range, while going 4-for-7 at the line.
Newman was held to 38.2 percent shooting, 5-for-21 from deep, and committed 13 turnovers.
