UCO students have the chance to change an Edmond first grader’s holiday season. Through the Presidents Club Children’s Community Party (PCCCP), students can sponsor underprivileged first graders from the Edmond area, providing them with a holiday experience they might not get otherwise.

Sponsors work in teams of two to get the gift for the child they are sponsoring. They will receive a wishlist from the child and asked to spend $15 each on the child. The event will take place on Nov. 30. That day, the children will meet their sponsors and spend time with them. There will be games, snacks, and the children will get to take pictures with Santa Claus.

This year, over 400 first graders were submitted to attend PCCCP, but only 280 could be accepted.

“If we wanted to help that many children we would need over 800 sponsors which would be very difficult to get.” said Sponsor Recruitment Chair Emilee Lian. “It’s a special thing that the campus has the ability to do… A small gesture like this can make a kid’s Christmas so special.”

To be a sponsor, sign up on UCORE and attend a training meeting. For more information about PCCCP, follow at uco_pcccp on Instagram.
