Women’s Soccer Played Two More Conference Games This Past Weekend
The University of Central Oklahoma women’s soccer team played two conference games in Missouri over the weekend, Northwest Missouri and RV Missouri Western.

The Bronchos fell short at Bearcat Field in a 1-0 loss against Northwest Missouri on Friday afternoon, as a goal was scored in the 14th minute of the game by Northwestern Missouri’s Makenna West.
Senior midfielder Rebekah George talked about the intensity of Friday night’s game against Northwestern, “Although the score doesn’t reflect it, I think we were the better team out there. I think that was the best we’ve played all season. The way we were connecting and passing the ball was the most ‘our style’ of soccer we’ve played yet!”
UCO had led a total of 19 shots on goal from the 90 minutes of the game, while NW Missouri had only 8.
The Bronchos tied with RV Missouri Western in a scoreless game being 0-0. The team attempted 4 shots on goal while MWSU had 10. Senior goalkeeper Avery Bass kept a clean sheet as she made a total of 6 saves, letting no goals in.
George talked about the team’s struggles. “I think the biggest opponent was the wind. In an outdoor sport, the weather can really impact how the game is played. In the first half, we were playing against 20 to 25 mph wind, and at that point you have to adjust game tactics a little bit.”
As the team has been playing games twice a week, George also let us know, “I think the biggest takeaway is that we’re getting better with each game and we just have to keep building on what we’re learning.”
UCO’s current record in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) is 0-2-2, and they are currently ranked 10th in the MIAA standings.
The Bronchos will be on the road once again this weekend. Their next game will be on Oct. 10th against the Fort Hays State Tigers in Hays, Kansas.
