Women’s Soccer Advance After Winning in the MIAA Post-Season Quarterfinals Sunday Afternoon
The University of Central Oklahoma women’s soccer team advanced to the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Post-Season semifinals after winning on the road in Warrensburg, Missouri, against No. 3 seed Central Missouri at South Recreation Complex on Sunday, November 9th.

Central Oklahoma entered the tournament as the sixth seed and is now 9-5-5 on their season and 6-3-3 in conference play.
The Bronchos beat Central Missouri 2-1 Sunday afternoon. The first half of the game started with a goal by UCM at the 31st minute. 10 minutes later, the Bronchos scored at the 41st minute by freshman defender Sophia Gaskins, ending the first half in a 1-1 tie.
In the second half of the game, as the game was in a tie battle, at the 66th minute, senior midfielder Rebekah George scored to complete the game for the Bronchos and move on to the next round of the MIAA Soccer Championships.
George explained her feelings after scoring the winning goal for her team.
“As a graduate student, yesterday could’ve been my last game ever. To just score the game-winning goal and continue the season for myself, for the other seniors, and for the whole team and coaches was just a very surreal moment.”
UCO consumed a total of 14 shots on goal, while UCM only had 6 shots on goal.
“Our team is very good at staying composed. We have a lot of experienced players on the team, and we all do a really good job of keeping the team grounded and focused in times of chaos,” George said.
Winning this game was important for the Bronchos, as they now earn the opportunity to play in the semifinals of the 2025 MIAA Women’s Soccer Championships against No. 7-ranked Emporia State on Thursday at 12 pm in Wichita, Kansas.
Central Oklahoma faced Emporia State earlier in the season, where the Bronchos came up short, losing 0-2 to the Hornets at home.
“What I’m looking forward to the most is revenge. I think this semifinals match-up is a chance for us to redeem ourselves and show them that we aren’t the same team that they played earlier in the season,” said George.
Missouri Western and Northeastern State are the other two remaining teams. These two teams will play each other at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
The MIAA Soccer Championship game will be played on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Wichita, Kansas.
