Volleyball Grabs a Couple More Road Wins

The University of Central Oklahoma women’s volleyball team won two more games on the road this past weekend, beating Central Missouri 3-1 on Friday, before finishing the road trip with a 3-0 sweep against Missouri Southern Saturday afternoon.

The No. 7-ranked Bronchos started their road trip on Halloween, where they traveled to Central Missouri. UCO trailed early, losing the first set against the Jennies 25-12, but that didn’t last long, as the Bronchos took control, winning the second set 25-19. After being down in the third set 7-0, the Bronchos rallied and ultimately won 25-17. With Central Oklahoma being up two sets to one, they remained in control, finishing off the Jennies 25-16 in the fourth set to close the match and get the 3-1 win. 

Senior middle blocker Mikiah Perdue led the team in kills, completing 11 in their four sets against the Jennies, and Lindsey Houran, senior setter for the Bronchos, led the team in assists with 35 total.  

UCO had a quick turnaround, traveling to Missouri Southern on Saturday afternoon. Central Oklahoma beat Missouri Southern 3-0, winning the matches 25-17, 25-20, 25-22 and making the Lions their 19th sweep of the season. 

Houran added this match to another one of her outstanding performances for the Bronchos as she collected 39 assists against the Lions. Houran is currently ranked third nationally and first in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Assists list for the 2025 season, with a total of 894, while averaging 11.61 assists per set. Houran is currently in second place on UCO’s all-time assist list with 5,002. She is behind only Stacey Meek, who had 5,604 total assists that she completed in her historic 2000-03 career at the University.

Outside Hitter Sydney Huck led the Bronchos in kills, completing 14 in the three sets.  Perdue and Lari Migliorino weren’t far behind, finishing with 10 and nine. 

Central Oklahoma will play its final two home games this week. Senior Night will be against Newman at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Hamilton Field House, and the Bronchos’ final home game will be against Pittsburg State on Friday at 6 p.m.

The women’s volleyball team will play its last match of the regular season on Friday, November 14, at Washburn in Topeka, Kansas.

The MIAA Postseason Tournament will be in St. Joseph, Missouri, and will begin Thursday, November 20.
