New App from UCO Computer Science Students: Pawwprint

Two computer science majors at the University of Central Oklahoma have created a new social media app that will help showcase pets in a more fun and carefree way.

Creators Efren Llanes and Jason Hull wanted to create an app with the goal “to spread joy and not spread hate”, said Llanes.

Development for the app took three to four months, starting in May 2025, just three days after Hull and Llanes graduated from Francis Tuttle Technology Center. The app started as a passion project that would also show the skill sets of its creators.

Originally starting as a fashion app called “Fit Check,” Llanes and Hull wanted to hit a bigger consumer market, and pets were the next obvious choice.

The way it works is like any other social media app; create one account and set preferences. The way that it is different is that there can be multiple profiles under one account.

Say someone wants to post a picture or a video of one of his 5 cats, but thinks that they all deserve to have their own account. He can then just switch profiles instead of creating a whole other account.

There is no need for a subscription, and there are no plans for it to be that way in the future. Part of the app’s goal is inclusivity; there are 7 languages that are available, with plans to add more.

While working on the app, with software updates and new features, Llanes and Hull are also paying to have it up on the Apple App Store. It takes around 125 dollars to keep Pawwprint up and running.

With only 110 users, all from Oklahoma, Llanes and Hull plan to expand the app with the help of other social media apps such as TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.

Users are mainly posting regular photos and videos of cats and dogs. It has a variety of different pet options to pick from, including chinchillas, snakes, raccoons, and eels.

Llanes said the end goal of the app is “To build something that touches every part of the world”.
