Central Oklahoma Volleyball Now 16-0, After Going 2-0 in Conference Opener.

The No. 2 ranked women’s volleyball team in the country, The University of Central Oklahoma, increased their perfect record to 16-0 after back-to-back wins on the road this past weekend.

UCO began their Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) opening weekend in Wichita, Kansas where they visited Newman Friday evening. 

Central Oklahoma cruised to a 25-13, 25-11, 25-19 victory over the Jets for their 13th sweep of the season. Senior Lindsey Houran said, “We played pretty well tonight for the conference opener. I just want us to take this same energy and momentum into our next game because it is against a very tough opponent in our conference, the Pitt State Gorillas.’’

 The Bronchos then went up the road to Pittsburg State on Saturday afternoon. UCO completed their 14th sweep, 25-19, 25-15, 25-22. 

Senior Sydney Huck collected her career high of 16 kills to lead Central Oklahoma to 2-0 in league play. 

“The ladies do an outstanding job of bonding and spending time with each other outside of the facility, which leads to deeper team chemistry. This is why they play so hard for one another,” said assistant coach Emily Todd. 

Central Oklahoma plans to keep up their unforgettable season this week where they will host a pair of games. The first of the two will be MIAA rival Missouri Southern on Thursday with first serve at 6 p.m. Saturday afternoon, UCO will take on Central Missouri at 1 p.m.

Both games will be played at Hamilton Field House.
