Celebrate National Croissant Day Friday With These Deals
Today is National Croissant Day, and several restaurant chains are celebrating the flaky favorite with special deals.
According to the National Day Calendar, National Crossiant Day has been celebrated since 2006. The croissant itself dates back even further. While inspired by the crescent-shaped “kipferl” bread, the modern croissant was introduced in 1915 by the French chef Sylvain Claudius Goy. He replaced the traditional brioche dough with a layered yeast dough, creating the buttery pastry we know today, according to the Institute of Culinary Education.
Today, croissants are a breakfast staple, ranking just behind English muffins and donuts, but ahead of cinnamon rolls.
Restaurant Chains Celebrating:
- Burger King is offering a free Croissan’wich with a $3 purchase to members of its Royal Perks loyalty program. The deal includes four sandwich options: Sausage, Egg & Cheese; Ham, Egg & Cheese; Bacon, Egg & Cheese; and Egg & Cheese, all served on a flaky, buttery croissant. To redeem the offer, customers must download the Burger King app, sign up for rewards, and place their order online.
- Corner Bakery Cafe is also celebrating with a $4 specialty croissant sandwich or a $2 classic or chocolate round croissant at participating locations. The $4 sandwich requires an eClub code, while the $2 croissants do not.
Edmond Bakery’s:
- Twisted Tree Baking Company, located in downtown Edmond on North Broadway, offers an all-butter croissant and pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant). The menu also features a flaky croissant sandwich with scrambled eggs and cheddar.
- Dough for Dough on 2nd Street serves a variety of croissants, including cream, sugar, blueberry, strawberry, blackberry, and raspberry.
If you’re staying on campus, Starbucks offers both butter and chocolate croissants in its bakery lineup.
Other ways to celebrate National Croissant Day include treating friends to freshly baked pastries, baking your own at home, trying a new recipe, or even taking a baking class.
