The air crackled with energy Saturday as Central Oklahoma lit up the Chad Richison Stadium, sending the home crowd into a frenzy with a Senior Day thrashing of Missouri Southern. From the opening kickoff, the Bronchos controlled the night, piling up yards, delivering highlight reel plays, and sealing the drama well before the final whistle.

A total offense clinic and a suffocating defensive performance had Missouri Southern gasping for rhythm all afternoon. UCO racked up 471 yards to Missouri Southern’s 171 passing yards and 23 rushing yards, one of the stingiest performances in recent memory for the Bronchos.

Head Coach Adam Dorrel said, “This whole week has been about the seniors we are honoring. A lot of these guys have been with me since I got here; they have done nothing but trust me, and I have done nothing but put my faith in them these four seasons I have coached here. This was an excellent response from the team, considering it was the first time all year we had played a full four quarters.”

The Bronchos seized momentum with a relentless ground attack. Senior Jaylen Cottrell roared for 81 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown. Dev Mathews pounded out 53 yards on 14 carries and punched in two scores. Braden Turner, the Edmond Native, recorded his first-ever college touchdown in the stadium where his father also scored his first touchdown.

Jett Huff, the starting quarterback, was surgical through the air, completing 23 of 27 passes for 246 passing yards and a touchdown, connecting with receivers all afternoon. Clayton Creasey, the redshirt sophomore, added a clean 15 yards passing and a touchdown, pushing the aerial attack to 261 yards. Schumann led the charge through the air, snagging 12 receptions for 135 yards. Hagen Hacker added two catches for 50 yards and a touchdown.

The Bronchos’ defense stepped up as Reese Roller anchored the secondary and led with five tackles, while Conner Johnson added four stops himself. The pressure ramped up as Cameron Done and Jack Puckett each recorded a sack. Willie Rice forced a crucial fumble, which Dalton Hurd recovered.

With the victory, Central Oklahoma moves to 5-5 on the season and 5-3 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA), sitting solidly in third place. UCO is one win away from a possible back-to-back winning season since 2017-2018.

A showdown at Missouri Western looms next Saturday, offering a chance to clinch that elusive milestone. This will be the Bronchos’ final regular-season game, with kickoff to begin at 2 p.m.
