Saddle Up Central: UCO Prepares for 108th Homecoming

The University of Central Oklahoma will hold its 108th annual Homecoming from October 18-25. This year’s theme, “Saddle Up Central,” was chosen by the Homecoming Activities Board to reflect Oklahoma’s history, culture, and the university’s development since its founding in 1890.
“Saddle Up Central aims to celebrate the resilience, determination, and adventurous spirit that shaped Oklahoma and our university,” said Cale Woolf, Executive Director of the Homecoming Activities Board.
Homecoming week will include 21 events over seven days, open to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members. Events include the Central 5K, pep rallies, line dancing, competitions, and the Homecoming Festival.
The week began with the Central 5K on Oct. 19, with registration fees of $5 for students and $25 for faculty, staff, and community members. The YELL pep rally will feature performances from the university band, spirit teams, athletics, and Homecoming Royalty Candidates.
Planning for Homecoming begins in March, following the selection of the board. Woolf noted the involvement of the executive board in organizing the week’s events.
“It truly would not happen without the tireless efforts of my executive board,” Woolf said.
The Homecoming Festival, scheduled for Oct. 25 prior to the football game, will include food trucks, games, vendors, and inflatables. Attendees will also be able to see the Homecoming Royalty Court before the crowning of two winners at halftime. Voting is open on UCORE from Oct. 20 at 8 a.m. to Oct. 22 at 11:55 p.m.
“Homecoming is UCO’s largest tradition, and this is not an accolade we take lightly,” Woolf said. “Every year, we aim to maintain traditions while organizing the week’s activities.”
Woolf also emphasized that participation is optional and encouraged for all members of the UCO community.
Homecoming week concludes with the football game and additional campus events. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members can attend events according to their interests and availability.
