Women’s Soccer Hosted Pair of Conference Games Over the Weekend.
The University of Central Oklahoma women’s soccer team lost 2-0 against Emporia State University on Sunday afternoon in their second back-to-back conference game this weekend at home.

The game was scoreless until the 61st minute mark when Emporia State’s Mikhaela Goen scored. Emporia scored their second goal 22 minutes later at the 83rd minute, making the score 2-0 to finish the game.
UCO took five shots throughout the game with two of them being shots on goal, but they remained scoreless.
The Bronchos kicked off their Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) opener game against the Washburn Ichabods this past Friday at Tom Tompson Field, resulting in a 0-0 draw.
Senior goalkeeper Avery Bass talked about Friday night’s game against Washburn, “The game was super intense and the team was very focused all game. Washburn is a very organized team so it was important for us to stay locked in all game.”
Battling for 90 minutes, no goals were made from either team.
Bass recorded her 15th career shutout Friday evening against the Ichabods and her third on the season. “We did a good job of keeping possession for most of the game. Any time we lost the ball we were quick to transition behind the ball to make it difficult for them to attack,” the goalkeeper said.
UCO led in shots on target this game with 9, as Washburn only had 5.
“Our nonconference schedule was one of the toughest nonconference schedules that we’ve been a part of in the last 10 years. We played top 10 teams in the first two weeks and learned a lot about ourselves, we really used it for preparation for our conference schedule. MIAA is one of the best soccer conferences and challenges you in many different ways,” said UCO women’s head coach Amel Muhamedagic.
The Bronchos now hold an overall record of 2-3-3 on the season and 0-1-1 in conference play. They are currently 10th overall in the latest MIAA standings.
Central Oklahoma will be on the road next weekend, where they will visit Northwest Missouri on Friday and Missouri Western on Sunday.
