Veterans Can Find Community at UCO

The Central Veterans organization hosts weekly meetings at the University of Central Oklahoma to provide resources to student veterans and discuss previous and upcoming group events.

Led by President Jenny Bingham, Central Veterans is a campus group designed to assist student veterans in adapting to the college lifestyle while pursuing their degrees.

“Central Veterans helps to ease the transition from military service to college by giving the veterans a sense of community and belonging that we all had during our service, and it is the toughest thing to find after military service for a majority of veterans,” said Robert Cochran, a member of Central Veterans.

“Services provided by Central Veterans include volunteer opportunities and a vast knowledge of the resources at UCO that everyone, not just veterans, should take advantage of,” Cochran said.

Joining this organization allows student veterans the opportunity to meet and connect with other students with shared interests and provides access to all Central Veterans events.

Meetings are held every Friday from noon to 2 p.m. at 100 N. University Dr. For more information, they can be reached through email at salute@uco.edu
