MLB Mid Season Review

We are a couple months into the current baseball season and here are your current American League and National League division leaders going into July.

The American League East Division leader is the Baltimore Orioles with a current record of 41-30.  They are lead by the power hitter Manny Machado who is averaging .317  with 86 hits and 17 homeruns on the season. Chris Tillman is leading the Baltimore Orioles pitching staff in games won having 10 wins and only 1 loss.

The American League Central Division leader is the Cleveland Indians with a record of 41-30. The Indians are being led by the dynamic pitching of Corey Kluber who leads the team in WHIP (1.01), strikeouts (103), innings pitched (102.2), and games started (15).

Francisco Lindor has been one of the brightest stars in the Indians batting lineup by leading the team in batting average (.307) and in hits (83).


Now for the American League West Division leader and the best record in the American League: the Texas Rangers with their record of 47-26. One person who has been lighting up the stat sheets for the rangers has been Ian Desmond whos leading the team in batting (.316), RBI’s (47), stolen bases (13), and hits (89) for the team.

The leader on the mound for the team this year has been Cole Hamels who is fourth in the American league in ERA (2.79) and tied for fifth in wins (8).

Moving on to the leader in the National League East Division is the Washington Nationals with the record of 43-29. The Nationals are led by two phenom’s of the sport one on the mound and the other in the batters box.

Bryce Harper the teams right fielder who leads the team with 15 home runs could arguably be the games best home run hitter. According to they ranked Harper second in their baseballs 50 best.

The leader on the mound is Max Scherzer who has a record of 8 wins 4 loses with an ERA of 3.29 and 128 strikeouts.

The National League West Division Leader with a record of 46-27 is the San Francisco Giants. The Giants have had great success from the sensational pitching of Madison Bumgarner. Bumgarner has an ERA of 1.85 with a total record of 8 wins and 3 loses.

Lastly, the Chicago Cubs have been the story of the baseball season so far leading the National League Central Division with a record of 47-23. The ace of the Cubs pitching staff, Jake Arrieta, has been outstanding with an 1.74 ERA , a WHIP of .95, and 11 wins with 2 losses.

The hitting of the young star third baseman Kris Bryant has been a huge success for the Cubs batting lineup this season. Bryant has a batting average of .267 adding a total of 17 home runs and 48 RBI’s.
